Akufo-Addo polled 117,413 of the total ballot cast representing an overwhelming 94.35 per cent the EC Director of elections declared, late Saturday evening.
About 144,000 delegates in 275 constituencies cast their ballots to select one of the three aspirants to lead the party to the 2016 Presidential election.
The three-time standard bearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his speech promised to reverse the decline of Ghana should he become President in 2016.
"We will cooperate and work together," he said, adding, they have a "sacred truthful duty" to "relieve Ghanaians from the unjustifiable hardships" imposed on them by an "incompetent Mahama government," Nana Akufo-Addo said.
