New wholly owned Ghanaian bank inaugurated

The First National Bank, a financial Institution, wholly owned by Ghanaians, has unveiled a new name as the “GN Bank” at a ceremony in Takoradi.

The Bank located in the heart of the city has also changed its colours from blue and white to gold depicting wealth and dark brown as life, enthusiasm and energy.

The Bank has a seven-member board of Directors (BOD) with Mr Charles Cofie as the Chairman and Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum, the 2012 Progressive Peoples Party presidential candidate and his wife Yvonne among the board members.

There is also a four-member executive team which has Mr Patrick Anumel as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Nana Kobina Nketsia, Omanhene of Essikado, launched the bank and appealed to the founders to let their nationality reflect in their work and not to stray from the vision and mission of supporting the economy to grow.

In a speech read for him Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, urged the managers of the bank to relax their products and services to enable small scale industries access loans.

He said investors depended on loans to operate and appealed to them to assist local investors.

The Minister commended the initiators of the bank for their support for the socio-economic growth and especially creating jobs for the youth.

Mr Anumel said starting as a Loans and Savings institution with only five National Service Personnel, the institution had transformed into a bank in less than 10 years with over 130 branches in remote parts of the country.
