Schlupp needs psyching up to play for Ghana

Ex-Ghana defender Tony Baffoe says Leicester City left-back Jeffrey Schlupp needs to be worked on mentally in order to perform for the Black Stars.
The Leicester City left-back looks to have lost the starting place to Germany-based defender Baba Rahman after failing to impress in his first start for Ghana in their match against Uganda in Kumasi last month.
Rahman excelled when he took Schlupp’s position in the match against Togo which looks to have cemented his place at the left-back in the Ghana starting team.
Supporters turned against the home team in their match against Uganda in Kumasi as the Black Stars drew 1-1 with Uganda as a response to the disastrous showing at the 2014 World Cup spilling over into the game against the Cranes.
The entire players of the Ghana team were booed by the fans during the match against Uganda which might have led to the bad result and Baffoe says judging Schlupp by that match would be a wrong assessment.
“Jeffrey Schlupp is a very good player but it is unfortunate that he made his competitive debut at a point fans were against the Black Stars,” Baffoe said.
“The fans were against him and I think that might have affected his psychological attitude, so the technical team of the Black Stars ought to psyche him up to face the challenges when playing for Ghana,” he said.
