There’s recipe for political disaster if… - NDC chair

The national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has warned that disaster looms if delegates give room to erratic executives whose motive is to “control the president and his ministers”.

Dr. Adjei mentioned that he has been described as a “soft leader” because he is unable to “control” President John Mahama and his cabinet.

According to ‘Wayo Wayo’, as he is commonly called, adopting such strategy as the leader of the party will spell doom for the country at large.

“Anybody who comes to tell you that I am so soft that he has to be voted into power to control the President and the Ministers is telling you that there is danger ahead,” Dr. Adjei said at the launch of his campaign on Wednesday.  "The crisis that will ensue, you’ll never see it in this country.”

He added: “It’s a recipe for political disaster. Don’t change a situation when you don’t know the situation that will follow in the future. I’m the best bet for this moment.”

Dr. Adjei stated that he may be seen as slow or quiet, but he is on top of his game.

“Leadership is not buga, buga matter; it’s both collective and situational. Every situation demands a particular kind of leadership. We are offering that leadership - me and my executives. That leadership succeeds as a collective and fails as a collective. Nobody can go anywhere and say that the leadership has failed when he is part of the collective,” ‘Wayo Wayo’ pointed out.

He noted: “If we are able to ward off invectives, insults and character assassinations we’ll be able to keep ourselves intact. My position is that say anything untruthful about me, but I will say it, all those who are saying it let them say.”

Dr Adjei is contesting the National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Kofi Portuphy, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, a former General Secretary of NDC and Dan Abodakpi, former Ghana Ambassador to Malaysia and former Member of Parliament for Keta.
