Rashid Sumaila to join Kotoko on loan

Ghana defender Rashid has exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com he will re-join Asante Kotoko on a one-year loan deal.

The 22-year-old wants to re-join his former club to save his international career after enduring difficult start to life at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The South African side has exhausted their quota of foreign players with no signs of the Ghanaian international, prompting him to seek a revival.

The former Ebusua Dwarfs defender has told Ghana’s leading football website, GHANAsoccerne.com, he will rejoin Kotoko barring any unforeseen contingencies.

“If nothing happens, I will rejoin them,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I have been tossing the idea around for some time and looking at the situation that will be the best option for me now. “We’re talking and hopefully I will sign for them on a one-year loan deal.”

The Ghanaian international will be eligible to play for the Porcupine Warriors following an extension to players under the special dispensation.

Sumaila is not new to Kotoko having featured for them on loan from relegated Ebusua Dwarfs. He was part of Ghana’s 2014 World Cup squad in Brazil but lost his place in the team due to lack of playing time and recurrent injuries.
