Muntari, Boateng still on suspension - GFA

The Ghana FA communications director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has said suspended trio Sulley Muntari, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Michael Essien will only be readmitted into the Black Stars after showing remorse.

The midfielders misconducted themselves at the 2014 World Cup leading to the expulsion of Muntari and Boateng from the Ghana camp.

“Until such a time that a new coach comes and the players involved show remorse, show also that they will reform their ways then the doors will be closed,” Daara told Starr FM. “We can’t have a system where people will decide to attack whether physically or verbally for whatever reason.”

He added: “So we want the players to understand that what happened was not good enough, they must also look at it from a different perspective, reform and comeback. They are all Ghanaians and we cannot say that the door is shut on them forever. We’ve got no right to do that.”

Muntari was handed an indefinite suspension after the Milan winger assaulted Black Stars management committee member Moses Armah Parker while Boateng was also handed an indefinite suspension after an altercation with coach Kwesi Appiah.

Essien’s refusal to warm-up prior to the start of the Portugal clash at the 2014 World Cup landed him a suspension as well.
