Exhibitors showcase made in Ghana goods

Mrs Leticia Osafo-Addo, National Treasurer of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) says local entrepreneurs should be encouraged and supported to do more amidst the current production cost and challenges.

She said entrepreneurs are producing under extremely difficulties in order to sustain the local economy and therefore expressed the need for state agencies responsible to do more for the private sector and emerging businesses.

Mrs Osafo-Addo was speaking at the Industry and Technology Fair (Indutech) 2014 being organised by the AGI on the theme: “Empowering Existing and Emerging Industries for Sustainable Development,” in Takoradi. She on the other hand encouraged Ghanaians to patronise made in Ghana products in order to sustain the local economy.

Mr Joseph Bawuah, Western Regional Chairman of the AGI said Indutech 2014, was geared towards showcasing Ghanaian industrial, technological and scientific products to local, sub-regional and global market. He added that the fair would help in widening business opportunities in both the Western and Central Regions.

Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Minister of Trade and Industry expressed the hope that the fair would draw attention to the business community and the public in general adding that there are opportunities to be tapped in the oil and gas sector during the period.

He said, “It is even more worth noting that AGI has not only revived INDUTECH to promote industrial innovation in Ghana.” Awulae Annor Adjaye, of the Western Nzema Traditional Council called on the Trade Ministry to pay attention to small and local businesses.
