Stay away from polling centers Sunday – Agyepong to NPP members

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyepong, has appealed to members of the party to “stay away” from polling centers in Sunday’s super delegates election to trickle down the number of flagbearer aspirants of the party.

According him, the exercise has been left entirely in the hands of presiding officers who the party believes have the capacity to do a good job.

The national executive body of the main opposition party has set August 31 for a special congress to cut down the number of presidential candidates from seven to five.

Among the people seeking to lead the party are, a two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, former trade minister Alan Kyeremanteng, former Attorney General Joe Ghartey, former Information Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and MPs Francis Addai-Nimoh and Kwame Osei Ameyaw.

Speaking to Accra-based Okay FM,Tuesday, Agyepong told party members “let us ensure that the party is supreme at all times. Let the party be our priority, let’s unite and work in concern.

“ On Sunday I appeal to all our members, please stay away from the polling centers. After the ballot, the votes will be declared. We have specifically left the entire process in the hands of presiding officers and we believe they will do a good job”.
