Let’s abide by the motto of our party - Addai-Nimoh roars

Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh has added his voice to the numerous calls for peace within the New Patriotic Party after some machete wielding youth attacked the party’s headquarters on Tuesday.

The Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region who promises to be a unifier for the party admonished party members to restrain themselves individually and not yield to the temptation of undesirable and divisive in-fighting.

“I wish to call for calmness within the elephant family at this period in the life of the party; United we stand, divided we fall”, he said.

Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh’s call comes at a point when some party members have taken the law into their own hands starting from the disruption of a news conference by the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.

Their reason was to express displeasure over the appointment of Deputy Communication Directors and also the unilateral decision by the General Secretary to compel the acting Communications Director, Perry Okudzeto to proceed on compulsory leave.

Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh pleaded, “We ought to remind ourselves of the motto of the party, ‘Development in Freedom,’ and strive to deepen it continually”.

He finally called on the party’s support to go in for a new generation during the NPP congress to move the country forward.

Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh is vying for the NPP presidential candidate slot to lead the party during the 2016 elections. A special congress for the party will come off on August 31 to elect five among the seven candidates vying for the flagbearer position of the party.

After this process, the main election will take place on October 18, 2014.
