Statement: NPP constituency organizers congratulate NPP, Akufo-Addo

The Greater Accra Constituency Organizers of the New Patriotic Party extend warm greetings to the entire leadership of the party, headed by Mr. Paul Afoko. We also extend greetings to His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, all Greater Accra regional executives, constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, party members, all party sympathizers and everyone present at this important program. Ladies and gentlemen welcome.

Today is a great occasion to have here shared in our story about some great of our party NPP.

The Greater Accra constituency organizers, having done enough consultation among ourselves and our polling station executive since our return from Tamale to Accra, resolved to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo - Addo for his decision to contest in the upcoming presidential primary of our party later in the year and the others as well.

We wish to congratulate H.E. John Agyakum Kufour, that as he was the president of our beloved nation Ghana, he introduced certain pragmatic policies such as youth employment program, cocoa spraying program, national health insurance policy among many others that changed the face of Ghana’s economy. This proves that NPP, if given the chance again will fix Ghana’s problems with pragmatic measures, competent team and with the help of God.

We deem it important to CONGRATULATE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo - Addo on the account that, he was the first national organizer of our great party and made a lot of impact, a former MP, a strong advocate in ensuring that the polling station executive were made part of the decision making process of our party and finally, the NPP presidential candidate who contested the presidential elections in 2008 and 2012, amidst constant attack, character assassination, mudslinging, falsehood, negative propaganda all aimed at denigrating his personality mostly from our opponents and sometimes from party members. He has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he truly has our party and indeed Ghana at heart. As a democrat and peace loving man, when Dr. Afari Gyan declared John Mahama the winner of the 2012 elections, Nana Addo did not resort to anarchy as Ghanaians were made to believe he would, by the NDC and as it has occurred in other countries but petitioned the court to seek redress.

Again, when the Supreme Court ruled in a split 4-5 decision against the petitioners under bizarre circumstances, he accepted the verdict to the admiration of the entire world. This, of course, earned him respect and was described by the Economist as a “Statesman” and of even the NDC. All these tell us that Nana Addo has something great to offer Ghanaians. God Almighty has endowed him with a vision so great for Ghana.

We wish not forget about the leadership of the party particularly the national and regional executive who ensured that our democratic credential is deepened by seeing to it that the regional representation on the nation executive council were elected peacefully without any acrimony in just about a week ago.

As constituency organizers, we wish to encourage all who believe in the cause of Nana Akufo-Addo to become the NPP flag bearer and subsequently the President of Ghana, to work hard in all aspects pertaining to this agenda to ensure that he succeeds. The reason is that as organizers who recruit, train and organize party members and sympathizers, we ought to represent their views, hence this call is a collective one from the grassroots but not our singular opinion.

Fellow party men and all potential aspirants, we, by these well wishes to Nana Addo, in no way try to discourage anyone from pursuing his aspirations. However, we appeal to all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaign in decorum and desist from the ongoing mudslinging and denigrating of some persons as we see in the media particularly on radio, since this damage being caused may be difficult to mend in the eyes of Ghanaians. It is worthy to note that we are all in this political boat together and as some members seek to rock it, when it capsize we all drowned together and that may be disastrous to our party. As it is now, 7 persons have picked nomination forms. We therefore wish to exhort all constituency chairmen to live above board in the event of special Delegates congress.

The NDC government under John Mahama - Amisah Arthur, has taken us back on the road of impoverishment with their unprecedented level of corruption which appeared in artificial judgment debts, non-existing projects, over-invoicing, pampers, sanitary pad, bad management of the economy and bribery. They see the state as money making venture and that they have set their hearts to create loot and share, just to get the national pot broken. For this purpose, we humbly call on the rank and file of the NPP and Ghanaians at large to remain united and work towards getting the NDC voted out of power for a better and more purposeful government from us, since Ghanaians yearn eagerly for Nana Addo’s presidency to liberate them from the current economic hardships, incompetence and corrupt NDC, John Mahama and Amissah Arthur led administration.

In conclusion, we wish to reiterate the call of the Regional Chairmen for the Party to have early congress to help bring tensions down since the longer the higher the tensions and to also afford us opportunity concentrate important exercises like the up coming and registration and Assembly elections.

Finally, NPP, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be anything praiseworthy to build our party, think on these things.

We believe that with the Lord on our side we will conquer our opponents in 2016. “The battle is still the LORD’S.

God richly bless you.

Signed
