Congratulations Major General Delali Johnson Sakyi and the GAF

We express our uttermost congratulations to the Ghana Armed Forces and Major General Delali Johnson Sakyi on his appointment as the Chief Military Observer and Head of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).
Major General Sakyi served most recently as Force Commander for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan and now succeeds Major General Young-Bum Choi of the Republic of Korea, who completed his two-year assignment on 16 June.
Born in Ghana in 1954, he has more than 35 years of military command and staff experience at national and international levels. He has held command and staff positions in the Ghana Armed Forces, including Assistant Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Junior Division and Commander of the Army Combat Training School.
His peacekeeping experience includes Abidjan Sector Commander of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire from 2008 to 2009 and Commander of the Ghana contingent in four United Nations and two Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) peacekeeping operations.
Major General Sakyi has a bachelor’s honours degree in public administration from Greenhill College at the Ghanaian Institute of Management and Public Administration in Accra. He is also a graduate of the Senior Command and Staff Course, Command and Staff College, Accra; the Army High Command Course, Army Command College, Nanjing, China; and the ECOWAS Senior Mission Leaders Course, National Defence College, Abuja, Nigeria.
This feat is one of many achievements of the Ghana Armed Forces to help make the world a better place.
