Electronic payslips for public sector workers

A system has been put in place to ensure that public sector workers check the status of their salaries electronically.

Workers can access details of their salaries through a computer or a mobile phone.

About 62 per cent of public sector workers have, therefore, been registered to be issued with electronic payslips.

These were made known by the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper, on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, when he answered questions regarding measures taken to ensure sustainability of the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP).

“The verbal complaints by employees on salaries have minimized because this system provides an avenue for channeling of such complaints,” the Finance Minister said.

He said registration is ongoing and a coverage rate of 75 per cent across the country was observed at the end of the first quarter of the year.

Mr Terkper said sensitization programmes have been held for ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in Greater Accra, Central, Western and Ashanti regions.

He said by August the remaining six regions will be covered.
