ABL expansion to reduce unemployment

The outgoing Managing Director of Accra Brewery Limited, Mr Gregory Metcalf, has stated that the brewery’s multi-million dollar expansion project will consequentially improve the conditions of service of employees as well as help reduce unemployment in the Ghanaian economy.

“It has been a wonderful and challenging working experience with the Accra Brewery family and I’m surely leaving Ghana with fond memories of this chapter of my career.”

He was speaking at a farewell dinner held in appreciation of his sterling contributions to the fortunes of the company.

Mr Metcalf expressed his gratitude to the employees for making his five-year tenure a success, indicating that the brewery is witnessing significant expansions because of their hard work. .

The event, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, also served as the annual end–of year employee awards ceremony to recognise years of faithful and devoted service of the brewery’s employees.

Thirty-six employees who had diligently served the company over a period of 10 to 42 years were presented with certificates and cash rewards. Mr. Thomas Yirenkyi of the Packaging Department took home the “longest serving employee” award.

On behalf of the awardees, Mr Yirenkyi praised the company’s management and staff for creating a conducive working environment. He said one can only be loyal when his efforts are appreciated, his needs are recognised and catered for, and the atmosphere for working is favourable.

Mr. Yirenkyi congratulated his colleagues who received the awards and also encouraged all employees to be a united workforce striving to serve the company to the best of their ability in order to attain success.
