Local tech startup launches ‘Dumsor’ app

A local technology startup, Kode Fusion GH, has developed the first app that seeks to mitigate effects of the power crisis -- popularly called Dum-sor - on Ghanaians.

The Dum-sor mobile application is a flashlight application developed by KodeFusion GH, a technology startup company.

The Dumsor mobile application works on cell phones with inbuilt camera flash, running the android OS and converts the flash into a flashlight.

The app was named after the local term for power outage in Ghana, which has become synonymous to every Ghanaian household. The app, which was launched recently and is available on Google Playstore, has received positive reviews and has seen increasing downloads since the launch.

Future updates of Dumsor include an ECG Load Management schedule whereby users will be notified when there is to be a power outage in their locality; automatic flashlight switches on when power goes off based on time-set, etc.
