Auditor-General submits reports to Parliament

The Auditor-General, in fulfillment of its constitutional mandate, has submitted its performance report on a number of public institutions to Parliament.

A statement issued by Reverend Joseph K. Ghunney, Public Relations Director of the Ghana Audit Service, which was copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday said the report covers the Statement of Foreign Exchange Receipts and Payments of the Bank of Ghana for the half year ended June 30, 2013.

Others are performance Audit of the Auditor-General on Phase one of the Land Administration Project and follow-up Report on six Performance Audit Reports involving the Management of Prison Accommodation and the Management of Ghana Police Residential Accommodation.

The rest are Management of Irrigation Projects, Management of Wetlands (Ramser Sites), Administration of the Ghana National Service Scheme and the Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme.

The statement said the above reports have been submitted to Parliament in pursuance of Article 187 (2) which states that: “The public accounts of Ghana and of all public offices, including the courts, the central and local government administrations, the universities and public institutions of like nature, of any public corporation or other body or organization established by an Act of Parliament shall be audited and reported on by the Auditor-General”.

The statement said: “The Audit Service has accordingly conducted regularity audit of the Foreign Exchange Receipts and Payments of the Bank of Ghana, and a performance audit of Phase one of the Land Administration Project and submitted the reports thereon to the Speaker of Parliament”.

“The Service has also followed up and reported on the status of the implementation of Parliament’s Recommendations made on six Performance Audit Reports which were submitted to Parliament between 2008 and 2010.”
