Hull Blyth re-opens Tema port storage facility

Hull Blyth Ghana on last Friday re-opened its empty container depot in Tema after a $2 million upgrade. The depot, located adjacent the port is now the largest dedicated empty container storage depot in Ghana with a total surface area of 35,000sqm.

This, according to authorities allows over 5,500 shipping containers to be stored on site at a time, and makes an annual throughput of 70,000 shipping containers.

Mr. Richard Anamoo, Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) who unveiled a plaque to mark the ceremony, said imminent expansion of Tema port and continued investment by GPHA in port infrastructure, access roads and development of rail system will help serve Ghana’s rapidly growing international trade.

He added that Tema would be leading West African region as deep water port will be a choice for all stakeholders.

The facility operating 24 hours, the container depot has since 2013 introduced a container barcoding for effective tracking of containers to ensure total safety of business.

The opening ceremony was led by the Chairman of Hull Blyth Ghana, Mr. Mike Ankuma. Also in attendance was the Managing Director of the Hull Blyth Group, Mr. James Baldwin and the MD of Hull Blyth Ghana, Mrs. Caroline Baldwin, along with other guests.
