Prices of commodities remain stable

The prices of some commodities in the Takoradi Central Market on Friday remained stable.

Some traders, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) spoke to on Friday said the prices of commodities such as cassava, yam, cocoyam, potatoes, maize, white beans, tomatoes, red pepper, onion, groundnut, millet, beans, plantain, carrot, green pepper and palm nut have remained stable for the past week.

A plastic bowl of maize is still sold at GH¢ 7, a cup of groundnut goes for GH¢ 1.70p, a big sack of pepper is sold at GH¢ 200, a medium sized bag of onion sells at GH¢ 220, a small bag of carrot sells at GH¢ 1 60, a big sack of green pepper sells at GH¢ 300 and rubber bowl of palm nut still sells at GH¢ 12.

Meanwhile prices of vegetables such as cabbage and garden eggs have increased this week. A big size bag of cabbage sells at GH¢ 130 as compared to GH¢ 120 the previous week while a big sack of garden eggs which sold at GH¢ 200 now sold at GH¢ 250.

Madam Aba Esoun, a vegetable seller, told the GNA that the prices of garden eggs and cabbage had increased drastically due to the erratic rainfall pattern, which disrupted the growth of these crops.
