Ghana Tv Consortium World Cup Feed And Commercials To Be Telecast By TV3

TV3 has now been granted permission to telecast Ghana TV Consortium World Cup Feed including all commercials.

The MOU was signed on Wednesday 14TH May, 2014 after TV3 met all terms and conditions of the Ghana TV Consortium.

In August 2013, FIFA, African Union of Broadcasting(AUB), Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and Metropolitan Television (Metro TV) signed an Exclusive agreement for the live telecast of FIFA 2013/2014 events including the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

Under the MOU, Ghana TV Consortium was given the right to sublet the license to other stations.
TV3 was not initially granted media rights because the station withdrew from the Ghana TV Consortium in 2013.
FIFA/AUB, GTV and Metro TV therefore went ahead to sign the Media Rights Agreement for all 2013/2014 FIFA events.
In February this year, TV3 applied to join and after series of negotiations with the Ghana TV Consortium.

Addressing a news conference after the MOU was signed Major rtd., Albert Don-Chebe, Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation said it is not too late for other media houses to apply. He also assured the public of uninterrupted feed throughout the tournament.

George Lomotey, Coordinator of the Ghana TV Consortium also spoke about the Radio rights availability, outdoor and indoor view broadcasts and the legal actions in which will be taken against any organization who use the signal without the approval and requisite license fees paid to the Ghana Tv Consortium.

Fadi Fattal, Director Metro TV spells out conditions of the agreement which restricts TV3 under the following terms and conditions.
- TV3 shall ensure the broadcast of the Commercial Package in accordance with the following Adverts of:
- “Official FIFA commercial package”
- Commercial Sponsors of the Ghana Tv Consortium Namely (GTV, Metro Tv. Net2, Etv, First Digital Tv and Gtv Sports Plus) during the period Before Kick-off, Half-Time Break and after the End of Each Match.
- TV3 shall however be entitled to a total of two and a half (2½) Minutes per match for its own Sponsors Adverts to be Broadcasted on their own Network only.
- TV3 Sponsors Adverts to be packaged by OMP along the Ghana Tv Consortium Adverts.
- Apart from the Commercial Package, TV3 shall ensure that no direct or indirect association between the Competitions and/or FIFA and any Third Party are made or implied with regard to Broadcast Sponsorship of such broadcast format.
The Ghana Tv Consortium shall grant TV3 the TV Broadcast Rights (excluding public view) for the 20th FIFA World Cup 2014 under the following Conditions:
- TV3 shall not syndicate any sms promotions on their network.
- Crawls on Screen shall include all sponsors of the Ghana Tv Consortium provided by OMP.
- Live Presenter Mention shall include all sponsors of the Ghana Tv Consortium provided by OMP.
- TV3 can only use footage on their News Bulletins, Panel Discussions and on one sports programme which is not sponsored by a competitor of the Ghana Tv Consortium’s exclusive sponsors of the world cup events only.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 12.
