Vodafone brings TEDx to Ghana

Vodafone Ghana, a telecommunications Company, said it would this weekend sponsor TEDxLabone, an independently-organised event licensed by TED in Accra.

A statement issued by Vodafone and copied to the GNA on Wednesday said the decision to sponsor the world renowned TEDx in Ghana was to inspire and drive positive change in communities and provide an opportunity for policymakers, development partners, business leaders, entrepreneurs and students to network.

It said it was very hopeful that the initiatives would have a meaningful impact, especially on the youth.

The statement said the day-long event which would take place on April 5 at the Kama Conference Centre and would also feature inspirational talks and performance.

The first annual TEDxLabone is expecting 100 of the most innovative and creative minds from across Ghana with speakers coming from a range of disciplines such as the corporate world, entrepreneurs, students, poets and policymakers, it said.

The statement said speakers at the conference would include Madam Hanna Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Uche Ofodile, the Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, entrepreneur and broadcaster and Patricia Obo-Nai, Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone Ghana, among others.

On the theme: Inform, Educate and Empower, TEDxLabone aims to create spaces for hope and possibility for future leaders in Ghana.
