UNIDO to support Ghana's industrial development

About 50 companies in the country are to participate in a solo exhibition organised by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) in Ouagadougou, the capital of neighbouring Burkina Faso.

The participating companies are into the manufacturing and sale of made-in-Ghana products and would be using the exhibition to showcase their wares to the people of Burkina Faso as well as seek partnerships with interested businesses there.

The exhibition is the initiative of the AGI, an advocacy institution for manufacturing and allied service providers, with support from the Export Development and Agriculture Investment Fund (EDAIF) and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).

It is to take place at the Azhalai Independent Hotel in central Ouagadougou and would run from March 27 to April 2.

The Public Relations Officer of the AGI, Mr Cyril Okpoko, said interest in the event had been overwhelming and the association was now looking forward to a successful showcasing of Ghanaian products in Burkina Faso.

He added that the companies registered to participate in the exhibition cut across all sectors (of industry), including those into aluminum and kitchenware, garment and textiles, fashion and design, arts, manufacturing, beauty and cosmetics, and food and beverage sectors.

He mentioned that the association had marketed the event in Burkina Faso and also put in place the right mechanisms to ensure that participating businesses reaped back their investments.

AGI had successfully organised similar solo exhibitions in some West African countries and Burkina Faso in the past and Mr Okpoko was confident the Ouagadougou one would not be different.

He, however, urged the participating companies to put in their best so as to attract the right partners and patrons while in Burkina Faso
