Presidency slams 'cynical' Prof. Adei

The Presidency has described as cynical claims by the former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration that President Mahama and his Ministers are a bunch of liars.

Professor Adei first made the remarks at a two-day marriage seminar in Tema and defended his tagging of President Mahama and his ministers as liars in an interview with Radio XYZ.

According to Professor Adei, he does not regret his comments saying the president and his appointees have refused to tell Ghanaians the exact state of the economy.

He wondered why in spite of economic hardships, the president insists all is well and prospects for the economy are viable.

When quizzed on his utterances, the educationist said leadership is about being candid with the citizenry and he doesn’t see that happening in Ghana at the moment.

But presidential staffer, Dr. Clement Apaak in an interview with XYZ News disagreed with the assertions of Professor Adei describing him as being cynical.

Mr. Apaak said Professor Adei must situate his point within the proper context adding that President Mahama’s comments are to inspire and give hope to the people of Ghana.

“I don’t think that it is wrong for a leader to inspire his people and hive them hope even in trying circumstances but should that be equated to being called or described as a liar”.

“Quite clearly if Professor Adei and others like him have become very cynical, it is their entitlement but if the time comes and the President has not delivered…the good people of Ghana would have the opportunity to pass a verdict,” Mr. Apaak said.
