Load-shedding timetable to be released mid-week

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been directed to come out with a timetable to regulate the recent challenges in the power sector.

The directive was given after a meeting of stakeholders in the power sector.

The Company has, therefore, given assurance that, by the middle of next week, a timetable will be made available to ration power in the country.

The challenges in the sector have been caused by lack of natural gas and crude oil to supply to fuel to Ghana’s thermal plants.

Recent shutdowns have also compounded the situation.

ECG’s Director of Operations, Engineer Tetteh Okine, told journalists in Accra on Friday, March 14 that the timetable will be made available as announced.

"Over the weekend, hopefully, we should be able to firm up on the quantities which we need to offload at each period of the time," Ing. Okine noted. "Once we have that, we are going to come out with a programme."

Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) Limited has, however, assured that the situation will normalize by mid-April.
