The Akwamu Traditional Council of the people of the Asuogyaman District have appointed Nana Yaw Boadu IV, the Kyidomhene, to succeed the late Nana Amo Bekai as the President of the Akwamu Traditional Council.

Following this misunderstanding, the royal Yaa Ansaa family petitioned the Kofridua High Court for adjudication. On Tuesday 17 December 2013 the court quashed the ADR report of the judicial committee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs and also prohibited Dasedre Oti Boateng and Nana Osei Nyarko who sat as the chairman and member respectively from further sitting on the Akwamu Chieftaincy dispute.
Meanwhile the public is being informed that a said Nana Kwafo Akoto III who is parading himself as the Omanhene of the Akwamu Traditional Area is not the leader of Akwamus
As it stands now all courtesies and allegiance should be accorded Nana Yaw Boadu IV is the Acting Omanhene per his appointment as the President of the Akwamu Traditional Council
