‘Demolitions are sabotage’

The Tamale North Constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Osman Musah, has stated that the recent demolition exercises in some parts of the country were intended to sabotage the current Mahama administration.

He noted that if the NDC fails to stop the demolition of the property of residents, it would negatively affect the fortunes of the party in 2016.

He wondered why such demolition exercises did not take place during the tenure of former Presidents Kufuor and John Evans Mills.

This, according to him, was a clear manifestation of the disruption of the activities of the current administration.

He called on the party’s members to halt such inhumane demolition exercises.

He claimed authorities supervising such demolition exercises were bent on making the NDC very unpopular ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He could not fathom why the authorities were embarking on such operations at a time when Ghanaians were complaining of hardship.

The NDC chairman observed that most of the victims were floating voters that support the party to win elections in the country.

He therefore called for the sanctioning of the authorities involved in the demolition exercises, as well as efforts by central government to ameliorate the suffering of the affected persons immediately.

It would be recalled that thousands of people in some parts of the country were recently rendered homeless after a series of demolition exercises which led to the loss of property valued at several thousands of Ghana Cedis.

The move was to reclaim parcels of land belonging to government.

Some leaders of the ruling NDC, including Alhaji Osman Musah, have heavily criticized the demolition exercises in recent times.
