The chairman of the parliamentary committee on Judicial Affairs, Hon. Kwame Osei Prempeh has noted that, Article 57(5) of the constitution which bars a sitting president from being summoned to court is a blanket one exclusive to only the president.
He said, Parliamentarians who are on their way to attend business in Parliament, are however barred from being issued with a court summon. Hon. Osei Prempeh however said, does not make it explicit that, sitting members of Parliament are barred entirely from being served with a court summon. He was speaking in an interview with Peace Fm on the minority’s boycott of parliamentary proceedings.
