Ho SSNIT Flats endure waterless Christmas

Some residents of Ho SSNIT Flats might test their right to sue the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for denying them water during the Christmas festivities without prior notice.

They claimed the situation disrupted their Christmas activities.

“We will surely seek some redress. This year’s Christmas is just too dry. Even if we don’t have money, at least we should have water,” Mr Charles Mensah, a resident said.

The GNA was told that the taps were closed since December 20 with no indication that service would return to normal soon but water is flowing in other parts of the town.

A middle-aged woman said, “I have not bathed for the past three days. The little water I get from friends is what I use in preparing food.”

She said she could also not host relations and friends on Christmas Day as planned because of the inconvenience caused by the GWCL.

She said the situation compelled some people at the flats to celebrate the Christmas with friends and relations in town describing the situation as “terrible and frustrating”.

A Client Officer at the GWCL who sought anonymity told the GNA that she did not know why water was not flowing at the Flats but hinted that the Company might be rationing water.

The Officer tried to get a Production and Distribution Officer to explain the situation to the GNA but was unsuccessful.
