Apraku’s invitation not to scare flagbearer hopefuls - NPP

The Director of Communications for the opposition NPP has rubbished claims that the invitation of Dr. Konadu Apraku to appear before the council of elders is to scare interested persons away from the flag bearer slot.

Dr. Kofi Apraku is to answer questions on some comments he made alluding to the need for a new leader ahead of the 2016 elections.

Another leading member of the NPP, Dr. Arthur Kennedy who recently confirmed his interest in contesting the flag bearer position said it appears the party is working towards a coronation ceremony for Nana Akufo-Addo.

But, Perry Okudzeto speaking to XYZ News said the invitation is not new to the party.

“An invitation has been extended informally to Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and I want to clarify the fact that it is not a summon” Mr Okudzeto said.

He added that “it is an informal invitation to meet the elders and deliberate on issues that he has raised, the repercussions of such issues and a discussion on the way forward on dealing with such issues internally.

Meanwhile, Dennis Kobina, an aide to Dr. Konadu Apraku has told XYZ News that the invitation extended to his boss is not necessary since he was speaking about relevant issues within the party.

He said what Dr. Konadu Apraku are real issues that must be taken seriously by the hierarchy of the party and not to summon him for questioning.
