Duncan wants Hearts of Oak fined

Former Hearts of Oak head coach David Duncan has petitioned the Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), claiming unlawful dismissal by his former club and he is hoping to receive not less than GHC50,000 in compensation.

The former Free State Stars Coach and his team of lawyers were supposed to meet officials of Accra Hearts of Oak and some members of the Ghana Football Association last week Thursday but the meeting was postponed.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Duncan and his team of lawyers will meet the Status Committee on Thursday to brief them on the petition.

According to our sources, if found culpable by the Status Committee, Hearts of Oak, will pay a huge sum of money to their former head coach for unlawful dismissal.

The club’s Managing Director, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, however, tells footy-ghana.com in an exclusive interview that coach Duncan is not entitled to a penny from the club.

“We are basically working on his payment for just three months and that is what he is entitled to and once that is ready he comes to collect it. It’s more like a separation payment or settlement. The impression been created there is that we owe something astronomical and that’s not correct.

“This money (three months’ salary) has to be paid as a consequence of the club been the one to initiate the procedure. If he wants people to know the amount we owe him we will let people know and if he want us to do so we will let people know. For me we don’t owe Duncan a penny and I’m glad he knows that. We will meet him on Thursday at the Ghana Football Association and we will take it from there.”
