Awutu Senya to prosecute Tax defaulters after December 31, 2013

Sampson Abbey Quaye Armah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu-Senya West, has urged the assembly members to sensitize the community members on the need to honour their tax obligations, especially those who owe the assembly, to settle all out-standing arrears by the end of the year.

Mr. Armah made the call at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Assembly held at Awutu Beraku where members accepted the Executive Committees Report, and approved their 2014 composite budget and fee fixing resolution.

The DCE said the Assembly as at the end of August, collected 243,077.99 Ghana Cedis representing 56 percent of its targeted Internal Generation Fund (IGF) out of 436,250.20 Ghana Cedis for the year ending 31st December, 2013.

Mr. Armah said the IGF collected was not the best, and appealed to the assembly members to assist the administration and the revenue collectors in the collection exercise in order for the Assembly to generate enough funds to support the Common Fund and other grants for development.

He recommended that the Assembly should authenticate its revenue collection agreement with Revenue Solution Limited (RESOL), a private revenue collection company, to assist in the collection of its IGF. He also stressed the need for the Assembly to form a District Task Force to assist the revenue collectors in their duites
