Fatau's Pirates move not regretted - Fianoo

AshantiGold SC Chief Executive Officer Kudjoe Fianoo says the club does not regret the sale of goalkeeper Fatau Dauda to Orlando Pirates, despite the 28-year-old’s lack of playing time at the South African side.

Dauda’s move to Pirates has been criticized by a section of Ghanaian football fans, who believe the former Okwawu United glovesman should have opted to stay with the Miners to better his form for Black Stars assignments but Mr. Fianoo insists the transfer was necessary to improve his financial standing of the club.

He said: “we at AshantiGold can pride ourselves as being one of the best clubs in Ghana. We pay players one of the best salaries but in the context of football, I think that it is a move we have not regretted. As a club, whatever we got from Orlando Pirates helped us revamp our club.”

The Black Stars goalkeeper, who is currently in Turkey preparing for Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Egypt, has failed to unseat number one choice Senzo Meyiwa to feature in a single game for Pirates, since joining the Bucaneers in August this year.
