Employers Association calls for restriction on tariff increases

The Ghana Employers Association, Association of Ghana Industries and Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry have called on Organised Labour and Government to exercise restraint in respect to the issues on tariff increases.

A statement issued in Accra at the weekend, and jointly signed by Presidents of the three Organisations said they would collectively and dispassionately discuss the issue with the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to find workable solution in the best interest of the state.

It said all categories of employers believed that it is necessary for Government, Organised Labour, PURC and other interested stakeholders to join hands with the business associations to engage in a constructive dialogue to resolve the tariff issue.

“All categories of employers are mindful of the negative implications this may have on the national economy as a whole,” it added.
