Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) at the weekend organised a stakeholders forum as part of activities lined up for the 2013 National Tourism Awards in Accra.

Dubbed: “The 2013 National Tourism Awards Stakeholders Forum,” it aims at creating the platform for stakeholders in the tourism industry to bring to bear their activities and contribution towards the industry.

Some stakeholders at the forum included; Papaye Fast Food, Telefonika, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Africa World Airlines, Labadi Beach Hotel and GLICO General.

Mr Sampson Donkor, Acting Chief Executive of GTA, said the awards ceremony is a flagship event organised by the Authority to reward excellent performance in the tourism sector.

He said the event is also to promote the tourism resources in the country and to encourage competition among industry players.

Mr Donkor noted that the award ceremony is to build relationship amongst the GTA, and the industry captains and to provide a solid platform for sponsors and stakeholders to drive their brands.

He urged the stakeholders to continue supporting the GTA, since such partnerships would go a long way to help the GTA in organising successful ceremonies in the coming years.

The 2013 National Tourism Awards slated for November 25, at the Banquet Hall in Accra, would be categorised into three parts namely practitioners or facilitators awards, corporate awards and personality awards.

There would be 20 award winners with nominations from the 10 regions.
