FIFA decision unfair to Ghana - Ben Koufie

A former GFA Chairman Ben Koufie has told XYZ Sports that FIFA has not been fair to Ghana in the wake of its decision to allow the Egyptians play the Black Stars in the 2nd leg World Cup qualifier in Cairo.

FIFA on Wednesday announced that the game will go ahead despite a request by the Ghana Football Association to move the game to a neutral venue.

The Football governing body said its decision was based on guarantees received from the government of Egypt and CAF’s decision to allow Al Ahly to play their Champions League match in Cairo.

But the 84-year-old football administrator in an interview with XYZ Sports said FIFA should give a second thought to the whole decision.

“I don’t think it is fair to Ghana. FIFA should give a second thought to the whole thing,” Mr. Koufie said.

He added that “the troubles are still going on there in Egypt so Ghana has every right to complain of safety”.
