‘MPs should prioritize security of Ghanaians over personal security’

A Security Analyst wants members of parliament to prioritize the general security in the country over their personal protection.

The 275 MPs have warned National Security Coordinator, Interior Minister and Parliamentary Service Board to provide armed police escort for them soon or risk parliamentary summons.

But the Head of Research at the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Center, Dr. Kwesi Anning is questioning the depth of parliament's concern for the people who put them there - Ghanaians

Three questions for MP

Speaking to Joy News Dr. Anning demanded to know "when was the last time parliament asked about the status of legislation of small arms production in Ghana?".

He continued that "when was the last time has parliament done an assessment of the threats to the people of this nation as a result of availability of small arms?"

"When was the last time parliament debated general threats to citizens of this country?".

He suggested that Ghanaians would be sympathetic to their demand if they were seen to be working in the interest of the people.
