BOARDS INAUGURATED FOR 2 ESTABLISHMENTS

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Ibrahim Adam, yesterday inaugurated two newly constituted boards of directors for the Irrigation Development Authority (IDA) and the Ghana Food Distribution Corporation (GFDC) in Accra.

Mr Adam Kaleem, an Agro-Consultant, chairs the 11-member IDA board whilst Prof. S. Sefa-Dedeh, of the University of Ghana, Nutrition Department heads the seven member board of the GFDC.

On irrigation development in the country, the minister noted food produced in the country, the minister noted that less than one percent of the total food produced in the country are from irrigated lands.

On food production, The minister decried the lack of formal credit to farmers most of whom he said are fully aware of improved farming technologies but lack the means to apply them.
