Tony Aidoo's 'lamentations' are legitimate - IMANI Ghana

IMANI Ghana has lashed out at government for failing to maintain the Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Office at the Presidency.

According to Daily Graphic on Tuesday, the head of the outfit, Tony Aidoo, accused government of non-payment of salaries of employees over a period of six months. Mr. Aidoo said work had grounded to a halt since the death of President John Mills.

Dr. Aidoo expressed misgivings about what he said was an apparent disinterest by the government in pursuing with the objective of retrieving sums deemed to have been paid wrongfully to individuals and institutions as judgment debts.

IMANI Ghana, policy think tank has also called out government saying the neglect of the Policy Monitoring and Evaluation office shows its apathetic attitude to the effective implementation of policies.

Speaking on Radio XYZ''s Strict Proof program, Franklin Cudjoe, Executive Director of Imani Ghana, said Mr Tony Aidoo concerns were legit.

“If the institution that is responsible for ensuring that policies passed are effectively evaluated in its implementation, for the benefit of every Ghanaian, is mismanaged, it can only mean that the government is not concerned about the impact and the functionality of those policies,” he argued.

Presently, workers at the Policy Monitoring and Evaluation office are said to have been paid their owed salaries.

Mr. Cudjo entreated government to maintain the office to ensure that policies passed were properly executed.
