Supersport seals deal for GPL television coverage

Footy-ghana.com can now confirm that South African broadcaster Supersport have been chosen by the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee as the new television rights holders for the Ghana Premier League.

According to our sources and as earlier reported here, Supersport will pay the GFA $700,000 a year for five seasons, meaning the deal is worth $3.5 million in all.

As earlier reported, an unnamed company attempted to hijack the deal by offering $1 million a year for three seasons, but the GFA chose Supersport on the basis of improved production standards.

Footy-ghana.com understands that some top officials of Supersport will soon arrive in Ghana to complete the deal, with credible reports indicating that the South African broadcast giants could televise Sunday’s Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in Accra.
