Sir John cannot talk about credibility, he has none - Quarshigah

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popular known as Sir John, has been asked to remove the log in his eyes before removing the speck in the eyes of Dr. Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Richard Quarshigah, Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is of the view that the pot must stop calling the kettle black; Sir John should stop questioning the credibility of Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan because when it comes to that (credibility), he is nowhere close.

“If Sir John is saying somebody has lost credibility, I feel ashamed for him because clearly he, compared to Afari-Gyan; who should we be talking about as far as credibility is concerned...I believe strongly that if Owusu Afriyie had any of the qualities of Afari-Gyan, the NPP would by this time be flying on glorious wings,” he said.

Mr. Quarshigah was reacting to the recent calls by Sir John and the Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG), demanding that Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Afari-Gyan, should resign.

According to Sir John, Dr. Afari-Gyan has lost the credibility to stay in office as the Chairman of the EC, and oversee another election.

Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness news, Richard Quarshigah said; “the call for Afari-Gyan’s removal obviously does not find space in reality and does not fall within the remit of logic. As for AFAG, the least said about them the better. We all know the way they’ve conducted themselves over a period and obviously have acted as a militant wing of the NPP, and so it is not surprising that they want to traverse a path of that nature. They are looking for somebody to hang for their woes; and they think that Afari-Gyan must be their punching bag. As far as I am concerned, Afari-Gyan remains a hero and will be forever remembered”.
