LESDEP gives tricycles to young entrepreneurs

Mr Baba Jamal, Deputy Minister, for Local Government and Rural Development (MLGR), on Tuesday handed over 120 tricycles popularly known as “motor king” to the Upper East Regional branch of Local Enterprise and Skill Development Programme (LESDEP).

LESDEP is to distribute the tricycles valued at GH¢ 3,100 each to young individual entrepreneurs who have been registered under the programme to be assisted.

Presenting the facilities to the beneficiaries at the Regional Coordinating Council in Bolgatanga, the Deputy Minister, said government was critical at ensuring the development of local enterprises.

He said the programme had been scaled up to target 120,000 beneficiaries and gave the assurance that all youth targeted under the programme would be reached out to fulfill government’s plans to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty.

He advised the beneficiaries to put the tricycles to good use to enable others benefit from the programme.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Upper East Regional Minister, asked management of LESDEP to come out with clear cut criteria for the repayment of the facility to ensure that the beneficiaries paid back on time.

He tasked them not to politicize the distribution of the tricycles so as to encourage the youth to make effective use of them.
