Both were aware of the then impending ruling and both knew that one of them will lose and the other will win, so they should have prepared two speeches each. Again, the President should have been aware that if his election was affirmed, he must speak to the nation, so there is excuse.

Kwesi Pratt is right. Nana's speech was reminiscent of Al Gore's speech which I recommended to the losing candidate in my article on Ghanaweb on Saturday August 24.

Don't be silly! Let Kwesi speak his mind! This is how he helped to build the democracy we are all enjoying! Don't you have elders in your home? What did Mr. Pratt say that irks you so much? The President never went to court for even one minute. If after the hard work by others, he did not have the decency even to thank them, should he not point that out?

Look at Akufo-Addo. He was in court regularly. He was constantly in touch with his legal team. Yet he thanked them for their hard work, even though they lost the case! How would you objectively compare the two?

Everyone knows Mr. Pratt supports President Mahama, and has been against Nana Akufo-Addo throughout the campaign, but the man is objective and a principled person who calls a spade a spade!

The "problem" with Mr. Pratt is that you cannot buy him. He is no sycophant! He speaks his mind very clearly, and with much wisdom. He does not care about your insults! Even with Rawlings' gun pointed at his head, he spearheaded the struggle against his dictatorship which ushered Ghana into the democracy we are enjoying!

The man virtually sacrificed himself to help free Ghana from military dictatorship into the current democratic dispensation. The minimum we can do is to be thankful and show him some respect!

FORWARD EVER! BACKWARD NEVER!!!

It would have been wrong of him to do that. Any how, he thanked those who worked hard on his behalf and also thanked the media by the way.

Is this supposed to be a competition? Nana Addo was supposed to do what he did because it was his supporters who needed to be reassured and helped to accept the verdict without trouble.
In his address, the president sought to get everybody believing in Ghana and working for Ghana.

He deliberately chose not to celebrate and in fact said whatever victory there was was for Ghana, not individuals or parties. Kwesi Pratt is making a complete fool of himself if he doesn't understand context in public speeches!

The main problem of Ghana currently is not the hypocritical speech rather action. beside that, President Maham had said it well" it's Ghana that won". Having said that there was no need for him to commend his own party members, sympathizers,foot-soldiers and so on again. He put himself above all this and spoke like the father of the nation. As such his speech did not need to be partisan. The President did well.He called on Ghanaians to leave the petition behind and work hard to move Ghana forward. What would he have done more?

But Mahama should take full responsibility for employing incompetent speech writers. If he wrote it himself, then it shows the type of leader we have chosen.
