Minister to open e-Commerce Expo

Minister of Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah will open the first Ghana e-Commerce Exhibition and Conference that will take place August 29-30 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The event, which will showcase multi-channel and online solutions for doing secure business over the Internet, is under the theme “Building Ghana’s Businesses Online”.

According to the event organiser, the objectives of the first e-Commerce Expo include creating opportunities for showcasing e-Commerce services, solutions and products; to create nationwide awareness about e-Commerce and its prospects; to explore opportunities that might be created through extending the use of e-Commerce services and products; and to encourage investment initiatives in the field of e-Commerce.

Some notable speakers include Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor (2013 Internet Hall of Fame Inductee); Dr. Pradeep Murkherjee (President, Avasant); William Tevie (Director-General, National IT Agency); Alexander Sulzberger (CEO, Ecoband Networks); Kofi Dadzie (CEO, Rancard Solutions) Derrydean Dadzie (CEO, DreamOval); and Dennis Chattaway (Management Advisor).

Delegates from Ghana, Nigeria and India will be taken through various key areas of trading online with topics such as Developing an e-commerce Strategy, Practical Online Payment Solutions, Mobile Money Transfer and the Rural Economy and many others.

"We are incredibly excited to have such a wide variety of companies involved in all aspects of e-Commerce speaking and exhibiting at Ghana e-Commerce Expo," said Paul Asinor, Event Director, OML Africa, the organisers.

"While attendees will benefit from practical advice about how they can better exploit the Internet and other social media channels positively for their businesses, they will also be able to get a glimpse of how e-Commerce will change in the future and how they can best position themselves to take advantage of this.

"There will also be a plethora of exhibitors, panel discussions and conference presentations, giving delegates the chance to gain an insight into topics such as mobile commerce, cloud computing, digital marketing, using social media and e-marketing for business, cyber fraud, online payments, online reputation management and more.”

The exhibition, which is free to attend, will have on display various Ghanaian online solutions and products. Exhibitors include Tigo, Ghanadot.com, Internet Ghana, Delilah’s Secret, Ghanafx, NandiMobile, eBuyGhana, Airtel, mNotify, Promobile Gh, inCharge Global and Mpower.
