Be vigilant in dealing with micro finance companies

Mr Ishmael Kwesi Otchere, Chief Executive Officer of Microfin Rural Bank, has urged market women to be extra vigilant in transacting business with micro finance companies.

Speaking to the Press at Pomadzi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, Mr Otchere said micro finance groups are to assist small and medium enterprises to grow.

He expressed concern that some micro finance companies entered rural areas with idea of improving their lot, but ended up bolting away with their money.

Mr Otchere said the Microfin Rural Bank and other community and rural banks were established to promote the importance of saving to the rural folks.

He said the Microfin Rural Bank has come to Gomoa East District to help revive the culture of saving in the society.

Mr Otchere urged the people to save with the bank to enable them benefit from loans and other financial assistance.

Ms Shiela Kufuor, Head of Marketing and Public Relations, said the bank has given financial support to over 500 women group customers to support their businesses.
