312 AIDS Cases Reported At Dormaa Hospital

The Dormaa Presbyterian hospital recorded 312 cases of AIDS between January last year and June this year. The Reverend George Adam Anabah, chaplain of the Dormaa Presbyterian hospital and chairman of the Dormaa district aids committee, disclosed this at a day's seminar on HIV/aids jointly organised by the district's aids committee and the district assembly at Dormaa-Ahenkro yesterday. The seminar attended by 32 heads of decentralised departments aimed at educating them so that they could also educate the people about the disease. He said the disease is prevalent among the youth who are supposed to contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the country and stressed the need to adopt measures to check its spread. Rev. Anabah said the Presbyterian health services in collaboration with its overseas partners has embarked on a four-year programme to help control the disease. Rev. Anabah said the programme includes the training of AIDS counsellors and home-based care givers in communities and public education to enable the people to change their sexual behaviours. He advised the people to stick to their partners and avoid casual sex.
