Petitioners need 4,709 pink sheets to make Akufo-Addo President

Inasmuch as there are doubts about the accuracy of the number of pink sheets, which the petitioners have filed at the Supreme Court, a leading member of the communication team for the NPP, Hopeson Adoryeh, has said that whichever way the counting of the pink sheets may turn, he is hopeful that the Presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, will emerge the next President of Ghana.

He said that in an unlikely situation where the number of pink sheets submitted to the court does not attain 11,000, the case will still be substantive because, without the addition, the petitioners were earlier on relying on 4,709 pink sheets which will annul 1.3 million votes that are more than enough to unseat President Mahama.

Speaking on Okay FM, he said that the petitioners amended their case from 4,709 to over 11,000 pink sheets, and with the amendment, the petitioners are no longer relying on 1.3 million votes, but seeking the Supreme Court to annul 4 million votes; stressing on the rumor that if the boxes according to the respondents contain over 7,000 pink sheets, the case of the petitioners is still unharmed since only about 4,000 pink sheets can dethrone President Mahama.

He further said that the petitioners have water-tight evidence and so if the number of pink sheets in the custody of the Presiding Judge, Justice Atuguba, does not conform to the records of the petitioners, they can win the case and unseat President Mahama because they have the chance to rely on the 4,709 pink sheets.

He, however, said that once the court registrar has received and signed for over 11,000 pink sheets, it is not the case of the petitioners to explain the shortage in the affidavits filed at the registry; reiterating that the case will not change irrespective of the outcome of the counting of the pink sheets.

He reminded that in the pleadings of the petitioners, they want President Mahama to step down and make Nana Akufo-Addo the next President; debunking the notion of false hope which people think the petitioners are giving their supporters because Dr. Afari-Gyan has admitted the definition of over-voting given by Dr. Bawumia.

He again said that the admission by Dr. Afari-Gyan that he instructed his presiding officers to use their discretion to ask people to vote without biometric verification is a total breach of the mandated law which was made to govern the 2012 general election.
