NDC preparing for a run-off - NPP alleges

Mr Sammy Awuku, a deputy communications director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has already started campaigning in anticipation of a possible Supreme Court cancellation of the results of some polling stations.

Addressing students of the University of Ghana last Friday, Mr Awuku said he was reliably informed that the NDC had started campaigning and holding vigils following their reading of proceedings at the Supreme Court.

“The NDC had so far held two night vigils in Accra: one at Zongo lane (Odododiodio constituency) and North Kaneshie (Okaikoi South Constituency),” Mr Awuku alleged.

Mr Awuku was among a number of speakers at a handing-over ceremony of the TESCON Legon executives.

The ceremony was witnessed by a number of party bigwigs, including Mr Kyeremanten Agyarko, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

He alleged that the NDC had a plan of misinforming the public about the court process.

However, speaking to The Finder, Mr Joseph Ade Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, asked Ghanaians to ignore Mr Awuku, who he said has lost credibility.

“Sammy Awuku is the one who promised Ghanaians that Akufo-Addo would be President before the Easter celebration. I can tell you on authority that Awuku was only telling the supporters things that would make them happy,” he said.
