Cuban Doctors not the solution - NPP tells gov't

The opposition New Patriotic Party has waded into the debate concerning the 350 Cuban doctors who arrived in the country, to supplant the current medical staff.

According to the NPP, Ghanaian doctors would understand the patients better than foreigners.

Speaking to XYZ News, General Secretary of the party, Kojo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, said the government should be blamed if striking doctors do not return to duty to save the lives of innocent people.

“For how long are we going to have these Cuban Doctors in this country?” Owusu Afriyie queried.

He added “these are local Doctors, they understand our local language, they understand the local diseases so no amount of training we give to a Cuban doctor would help us.

“The way forward is not to bring doctors from the moon or to say that whoever is ill should go to the Military or the Police hospital”.
