Mahama warns ministers against attacks

President John Mahama has warned newly sworn in deputy ministers against resorting to the media to settle misunderstanding with their substantive ministers.

According to President Mahama, there is no way his government will tolerate such unhealthy practice among his appointees.

The president issued the caution on Thursday when he sworn in the last batch of 35 deputy ministers at the Flagstaff House.

“Kindly abide by the ethics of the office that you hold. It is certainly unacceptable to go to the media and cast aspersions against any of your colleagues, or any of the ministers is absolutely unacceptable.

“If there is anything that worries you come to the president or the vice president or the chief of staff as the case might be and we would resolve the issue,” President Mahama said.

President Mahama’s warning comes after the Deputy Central Regional Minister, Queensta Pokuaa Sawyer, made some allegations against Kwamena Ahwoi, the Minister of Interior.

The president also stated that he disagrees with the perception that women cannot work successfully among themselves hence his decision to appoint women as both substantive and deputy to some ministries.
