Resource TOR – TDCL urges government

The Tema District Council of Labour (TDCL) has again called on government to give the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) adequate resources to enable the refinery to mix its own crude oil for production.

Repeating the call at its general meeting in Tema on Thursday, the Council cautioned that it would resist any action by government to privatize TOR because in its view, “if you touch TOR you touch Tema workers.”

The Council urged government officials to stop spreading “the cheap propaganda that TOR is a liability to the nation and for that matter it must be privatized.”

The Council gave government till April 15, to convene the National Tripartite Committee meeting to determine a national daily living wage and not just a minimum wage.

In preparing for this year’s May Day celebration, the Council said it would collaborate with the security agencies within the metropolis to embark on a health walk on April 27, to check the physical fitness of members for the celebration.
