Name new airport after Great Ningo - Residents

The Great Ningo Youth Association (GNYA) has appealed to the government to give recognition to the Great Ningo Traditional Area by attaching its name to the new international airport that will be built.

They stated that the government had acquired a 16,000-acre land from the people of Great Ningo for the construction of the new international airport.

Making the appeal at a press conference at Ningo, the Chairman of the group, Ebenezer Amanor, said the parcel of land in question is situated in the Great Ningo Traditional Area and belongs to the people of Great Ningo and not Prampram.

On encroachment on Ningo lands, the GNYA said it was worrying that some estate developers were using land guards to intimidate the real owners.

The association repeated its call on the government to create a separate district for the Great Ningo Traditional Area.

Mr Stephen Nartey, former Assemblyman of the town appealed to the various factions in the chieftaincy litigations in the area to bury their differences to find an amicable solution to chieftaincy disputes to drive development in the traditional area.
