Volta Democrats assure President Mahama of their support

Volta Democrats for Development (VDD) on Tuesday urged President John Mahama “to remain steadfast and focused,” as his opponents try to detract him.

“We believe that since we have elected our President, his failure is our failure and his success our success. We are ready to offer our support in any form to helping you succeed.”

These were contained in a statement read by Mr Stephen Adom, interim President of the Group at a Press Conference in Ho.

The Group, composed mainly of young people, assured President Mahama of its readiness to rally to his defence against his opponents.

It called for voices of moderation to stop “elements in the opposition NPP from consciously and intentionally” working to cause “anarchy and stagnation” and undermining the government’s development efforts.

“Three months we believe is too short for a government to solve all the age-old problems of this nation,” the statement said.

The Group described as “most appropriate and constitutional” the recourse to the Supreme Court over the Presidential results saying “it is an exercise in futility calculated to derail the energy and focus” of the government.
